Our Students Blessed to Help Set Up Church

by ABI Admissions (3/7/2017)

Over the weekend, when most of our students were traveling home for Spring Break, a small group instead traveled to Muscatine, Iowa to help the church there move into their new building.

There were multiple tasks to be completed, and over the course of two days our students worked alongside the saints of Christian Life Center to make sure that the building was ready for its first service Sunday morning. Some stained doorways, while others cleaned up a kitchen. We had students on ladders, changing out lightbulbs and hooking up new equipment. One student even went into the ceiling to plug in monitors so that the congregation could have lyrics to songs and scriptures displayed.

Overall, it was a fun weekend and one full of ministry opportunity for the hard-working students of ABI. We are excited for what God is doing in Muscatine, Iowa!

Our Adjunct Faculty

by ABI Admissions (2/28/2017)

The students of ABI have been delighted to have Rev. Sidney Poe teaching Old Testament History II for two weeks. Rev. Poe teaches at ABI several times a year and it is always a joy for the students.

This semester, we have nine different adjunct faculty joining us to teach, some for multiple subjects. We are blessed at ABI to have wonderful instructors from all over North America come to teach our students and share with them their burden for ministry.
Being able to hear from a variety of ministers, all from different walks of life, helps our students to hone their callings and gives them a rare chance to connect with multiple ministers in one place.

We love our adjunct faculty!

Bennie Leigh DeMerchant

by ABI Admissions (2/23/2017)

On February 8th, 2017 we lost a great father, grandfather, missionary and man of God. Bennie Leigh DeMerchant was born in New Brunswick, Canada on January 31st, 1941, and at an early age, he felt a tug for the work of the Lord. God had placed missions and piloting strongly on his heart, and at a revival in 1957 he gave his life completely to God to do His perfect will in Bennie's life.
After a close call while flying with Bro. Gerald Grant, his longtime friend, Bennie was praising and thanking God for His mercy when he saw visions of a map of the Amazon River system in northern Brazil.
Bennie graduated from ABI in 1962, and his wife Theresa had graduated in 1957. On October 29th, 1965, they began their missions career in Manaus Brazil, that spanned over 57 years. In that time, they built up churches, Bible schools and ministers for the gospel. Bro. DeMerchant logged over 15,000 flight hours in the dense jungles and winding rivers of the Amazon.
At his passing, Bro. DeMerchant leaves behind over 1,300 UPC churches, 124 Bible schools and over 140,000 constituents.
His last words before taking his final, heavenly flight were: "Make disciples, open Bible schools, teach the Word, keep the doctrine, and remain in the Truth."

Cold North Invitational

by ABI Admissions (2/22/2017)

ABI was honored to host the Bible Quizzing Cold North Invitational over the weekend.

Teams from Minnesota, Iowa and Wisconsin competed together for two days, working hard to not only take the top spots, but to broaden their knowledge of the Word of God. These dedicated young people have devoted their time and energy to memorizing scripture. This year's theme is 'Rooted' and the verses come from the book of Acts.

We're proud of these young people who are giving their time to learn our roots in Pentecost!
